At The Firs, The Hive is a supportive, inclusive, and nurturing stand-alone classroom designed for children whose additional needs cannot be met solely within the mainstream setting. It is a place where every student is valued for who they are and celebrated for what they can achieve.
Our team is dedicated to providing individualised instruction that reflects each child’s unique strengths, needs, and learning styles. We focus on developing strong communication skills, independence, social–emotional growth, and academic progress through evidence-based practices and engaging, hands-on learning opportunities.
In The Hive we aim to foster a strong sense of belonging, encourage curiosity and help students build confidence in themselves and their abilities. We offer a range of facilities, including a sensory room and a dedicated outdoor area. Students are also able to access other spaces within The Firs, such as our Pottery, Art and DT room, and Music room.
We work closely with families, therapists, and support staff to create a collaborative partnership that ensures every student receives the resources, understanding, and encouragement they deserve. Together, we strive to help each learner make meaningful progress and experience success every day.
As an integral part of The Firs School, we ensure that children within our Hive are given opportunities to integrate and learn alongside students in other classes where appropriate, and in line with their individual needs and skills.
We are proud to be a place where all students can learn, grow, and shine through our school values of Family, Inspiration, Respect and Success whilst following our guiding principles, The Firs Way.
Admission to The Hive is usually done through the local authority but if you feel our setting may be suitable for your child please do get in touch via our school office who can arrange a meeting with our inclusion lead.
