    Walk My Journey

Year 5 have been very busy with a wide range of wonderful off site learning experiences this term.

They  are thoroughly enjoying the exciting project ‘Walk my Journey’, involving more than a dozen schools across Chester. The project is centred around increasing the understanding and awareness of refugees. Year 5 have worked hard at two rehearsals, at Mill View and the Catholic High School,  practising two specially written songs. On the 3rd October they sang at the Racecourse as part of a live recording for a film. The children were filmed by a drone hovering just above their heads!  All of this practice and filming culminates on the 29th November in a performance  at the Lantern Parade in Chester city centre.  The film will be projected onto the side of the cathedral.

As part of the project the children also attended a theatre production of a play called ‘Adrift’ by the Action Transport Theatre company where they learnt more about the plight of many refugees.

    Awful Egyptians

Year 5 have also had a brilliant, educational but “horrifying” time watching an “Awful Egyptians” show at the Floral Pavilion this week. The 3D show taught them, in a very real way, about mummies, pyramids and hieroglyphics through sketches, songs and dances.  They were horrified as the 3D mummies came towards them and the beetles headed their way. A truly educational if not terrifying experience!
