Year 2 – Wonderful Literacy Work!
Miss Bettany, our Year 2 teacher writes. “I am so proud of the Year 2 work produced during the latest literacy unit based on the book, ‘Major Glad and Major Dizzy’. In the story, the toy soldiers go from the Victorian era, live through WW2 and re emerge 70 years later to see a very different world
Pupils had chance to practise their sewing skills, like Amelia in the story. They also made peg dolls and painted some like the toy soldiers. Then, pupils planned and wrote some beautiful letters to Grandparents, asking them what life, toys and school were like when they were young.
As we have all faced such tough restrictions, we thought about how special it would be for the Grandparents to actually receive these lovingly written letters through the post and decided to send them.
The work produced was of the highest standard because it held real purpose”.
