We are delighted to welcome all of the children, from Kindergarten to Year 6 children back into school! We started with a phased return at the beginning of June and welcomed our final groups in on Monday 22nd June. An extension of the school term means that all children will have had at least one month of face to face teaching time. It has felt like a long time since The Firs family have been together and it has been wonderful to see such happy faces in the mornings (and equally happy parents!). The children have enjoyed being able to see their friends, all be it in a socially distanced way, and get back to the school routine. We are fortunate enough to have enough spaces, small classes and a high student to staff ratio, enabling us to accommodate the vast majority of our student body.
Some things are a little different, children are kept strictly in their bubbles, play times are staggered, as are drop off and collection times in the morning and afternoon, and hygiene and hand washing take a high priority during the day. Despite all of the changes the children have adapted wonderfully and their resilience and sensible attitude has been a great credit to them. Our staff have been incredible and have coped with a large number of changes with good humour and great professionalism. None of this could have happened without their commitment to the families and children of The Firs and we are truly thankful to the whole staff team!
