House Competitions Begin
The start of a new term sees the launch of the new house competition at The Firs. Each child from our Fir Cones Kindergarten class to Year 6 are placed into one of 3 houses as they join the school. Our houses are named after birds; Hawks, Eagles and Falcons. Throughout the year children are awarded house points for good behaviour, trying hard as they work and following the Firs Way.
Every half term we have a special house assembly where the children come to school dressed in their house t-shirts and find out their respective totals. There is always much excitement on these days and the competition is fierce! Often our houses score very closely so the children love the opportunity to find out which place their house is in. The children are also rewarded personally when they achieve their house point goals; with bronze, silver and gold badges being presented to individuals throughout the year.
This year new house captains have been selected from our oldest Year 6 class, and the campaign to win house points was launched, with special assemblies where each house got together, met their House Captain and were also visited by their house mascot. Enthusiasm was high, plenty of house points have already been awarded and we are looking forward to an exciting year ahead!
