On Tuesday 6th December, children from Year 6 attended the ISA Basketball Tournament at Ellesmere Port Sports centre hosted by The Firs School. The team played extremely well and every match was extremely close. All pupils played well and tried really hard throughout the tournament. There was some excellent passing and moving from the whole team as well as some great baskets from Joe, Eleri, Jamie and two from Woody. In the first match, The Firs team was very powerful and worked perfectly as a team with plenty of shots but were unfortunately unable to find the basket, resulting in a 0-0 draw. Again in the second match, the team played extremely well, this time Joe scoring our first basket, unfortunately the other team scored as well resulting in a 2-2 draw. Next up, The Firs team found their range and were able to score 4 baskets, first Eleri, followed by Woody, then Jamie and finally Woody again. For the last two matches the competition was extremely tough. The Firs team again played some excellent basketball both offensively and defensively but were unable to find the net and managed to hold their very difficult opponents to just one basket, suffering their only loss of the tournament 0-2. In their final match of the tournament, the team were able to hold the eventual tournament champions to a 0-0 draw showing just how well everyone was playing. The tournament had some tough competition and The Firs children worked extremely well together on the court. A big well done to the efforts of the entire team.
