We have been really enjoying developing our school Buddy system over this last academic year. We have carefully matched out older children with our younger classes and have introduced a wonderful range of opportunities for them to mix together. Recently our Buddies have been having one lunch time a week together, they have shared reading books together in class and in the school library and even enjoyed sitting next to one another during assembly.
Our Buddies provide an excellent opportunity for role modelling and sharing of their own skills and knowledge. At The Firs we understand how our Buddy systems aren’t just beneficial for the younger students, they help our older students to understand just how important they are, as an individual and within our school context. Big buddies can see how who they are and how they think, act and behave contributes to school culture whilst at the same time forging strong friendships.
