The children at The Firs took part in a beautiful reflective remembrance act on the 11th November at 11am. The whole school went out to gather around the flag pole where we listened to Freddie from year 6 beautifully perform The Last Post. We took time to remember those who have served in all wars for their country and reflected on the freedoms we have as a result. After this, the children enjoyed sharing some wonderful pieces of work that they had created. Mrs Blackburn had set an exciting ‘Headteacher’s Challenge’ to create a piece of work for Remembrance Day which reflected the occasion. Reception and Fir Cones had made some beautiful poppies, we saw some impressive art, heard wonderful poems, creative writing and some children shared special artefacts from their own families.
