Here at The Firs School we take the mental health of our children very seriously and are always looking for ways to ensure that children feel happy and secure in school. As part of our on going PSHE and mindfulness programme we have recently instigated a worry box in every classroom. Children are free to write any worries down that they may have and this is then followed up, in an appropriate way with a member of staff. This might be through a whole class discussion, a circle time or a chat with a member of staff. The children in Reception and Year 1 have gone a step further and have created their very on worry monster, who they can write or tell any worries to and who can then help them tell a trusted adult if they feel sad or anxious. They are very proud of their creations and the monsters are always available to help!
