Last week saw the first performance of our Year 6 play, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ adapted from that of the great William Shakespeare. It was a breathtaking display of what a small class of ten and eleven year olds can achieve through teamwork, hard work and inspired direction. Well done to everyone, I’m sure this will be a memory to take forward and inspire our pupils for many years ahead. A huge thank you must go to Reverend Jonathan Phillips, a Firs parent, who has directed the play and volunteered so many hours of his time to share his vision with us. Of course his stage manager, Mrs Nightingale, has also been an integral part in the production and her unflappable spirit shows in the pupils calm and assured manner. A mention must surely also go to our estate team, Mr Toan and Mr Cartlidge, who worked many extra hours to put up and take down (and again and again!) the wonderful stage area. It is highly unusual for such young actors to be able to perform ‘in the round’ but ours did it with style! Well done everyone.
