Under 11’s Cricket Match Report

U11 Cricket match report by Paris and Robert

On the 3rd of May, The Firs School hosted a cricket match against Ellesmere College at Wealstone Lane Fields. Despite the bad weather, we were looking forward to testing ourselves against a strong, experienced team.

We won the toss and decided to bowl first, so we knew the total we needed to beat. Our bowling was much improved from the previous week against Terra Nova, giving away far fewer wides and no bowls. We bowled well and kept the score down to a realistic target of 254-2. The two wickets courtesy of Zach’s fantastic bowling.

As we got in to bat, we realised how difficult it would be to get a good score, with Ellesmere’s good bowling and the bad conditions. Robert hit a superb six and Zach hit two fours. Ben was unlucky that one of his balls fell just short of the boundary.

Ellesmere’s experience came through and they beat us by a score of 208-8. Final score – Ellesmere College, 254-2. The Firs 208-8. The team was Robert, Jake, Ben, Sam, Paris, Connor, Zach and Alexander.

Congratulations to Zach for his man of the match performance and thanks to Mr Girvan for organising it.
