Aims and Objectives

The Firs School exists to encourage children to achieve the highest standards consistent with their natural ability and where problems exist to understand them and find ways of overcoming them.

The purpose of education can only be understood in the light of the whole child. We believe that the Christian faith provides the kind of moral and spiritual framework in which children can discover their purpose in a world created by a loving God.

We therefore aim to be a secure and ordered community in which children can grow into an understanding of themselves and how they can co-operate with others to achieve common objectives. In addition, we aim to provide a stimulating and interesting environment which will give children a sense of adventure and a desire to discover things for themselves which can be applied to life’s problems and challenges. Finally, we aim to be a caring community in which children are appreciated and helped to see that everyone has a special value and that they can gain great fulfillment by contributing to the wellbeing of others.

These aims can only be achieved through a partnership which involves teachers, parents and children and which is based on mutual understanding and trust.
