J4 Learn Life Saving Techniques

J4, (Yr 6) attended the IMPS course at St John Ambulance Centre at the A&E department of the Countess of Chester hospital. IMPS stands for Injury Minimization Programme for Schools.

The programme was taught by trained staff and consisted of two sessions. The children learnt basic life support and were shown how to look after someone who is unconscious using specially designed mannequins to practise the correct technique.

Session 2 was an interactive video, which covered burns and scalds, choking, bleeding and electrocution.

YR6 were so impressed by learning these life saving techniques, they prepared a presentation for the whole of the Junior school to share their knowledge.
