The Firs School Diamond Jubilee Celebration CD

The 60th Anniversary CD was recorded to capture the singing talents of the children attending The Firs School in the Diamond Jubilee Year of 2005.

Jellymould Productions of Huddersfield came to record the pupils on a hot day in July. They set up their recording equipment in the music room in the bungalow. The children were extremely patient working on 'take' after 'take' until a satisfactory performance was achieved. If they ever aspired to be pop singers, this experience will most certainly have shown them what to expect!

The school choir consists of pupils who participate because they want to sing, regardless of the quality of their voice. The chamber choir voices are auditioned, and these pupils attempt songs which are a little more challenging.

A group of parents contributed to the CD by learning a piece in four part harmony - a difficult but successful accomplishment, which supported the singing of the children. Some J4 (Year 6) children played their instruments and Susan Hunt, the school secretary and her daughter, Olivia sang Thine Way, a piece specially composed for the School's Anniversary.

The result, as we are sure you will agree, is delightful.
