Years 3 and 4 enjoyed an engaging and energetic musical performance masterclass lead by Matt Baker, Artistic and Creative Director of the renowned Chester Mystery Plays. Noah’s Ark was the theme for the workshop, combining music, singing, drama and movement. Students learnt how to use their facial expressions and bodies to create a variety of shapes and images to represent key elements of the story, such as, animals and rainfall. They were also able to express strong emotions, such as, fear through drama and movement.
After doing a warm-up routine, the students had fun participating in several performance activities, all following the main theme. They also learnt a song to enhance their storytelling. Many of the more complex movements, particularly those involving balance, required teamwork and trust, allowing the students to develop confidence in themselves and each other.
Having put together an exciting spectacle, they delivered an impressive performance of the story of Noah’s Ark to the rest of the school.
