Well done to Mrs Patton and the FSDF organising committee for the very enjoyable Christmas fair on Friday 27th November. The fair was well attended and raised £1443.78 for the school development funds. Thank you to all who attended and to the FSDF and stall holders who participated. The children entertained us with various Christmas songs.

The children have been busy designing self portraits for the new Firs T-Towel. The teachers have also been drawn by their classes and they have selected their best representation to also go on the new T-Towel.

The park and stride scheme has now been going for nearly a term and many thanks to all of you who park up at St. Columbas. Mrs Denton today gave some of the parents who have been distributing the stickers a small present at our final Junior assembly of 2008! The parents received some fingerless gloves to keep their hands warm whilst giving stickers and a santa mug to have a hot drink!

I hope that you will be able to join us for our Christmas Fair. There will be a wide range of stalls including cakes, toys, Christmas gifts, cards and mulled wine! The stalls will be in the hall, library, staff room and bungalow.
School will end at the normal time and children should be collected from their lines as usual (or their classrooms if the weather is wet).

The cake stall at the last Fun Day!
Each year the FSDF organise a Christmas Raffle for the school. We ask all parents to make a small contribution if possible, so that we can produce Christmas Hampers for the raffle prizes.

Many thanks indeed to all the children for their wonderful response to the Christmas Pudding Label Competition. The high standard and imaginative drawings made the selection of the two winners an extremely difficult task. Well done to everyone who took the time and effort to enter and congratulations to the two winners who will receive a £10 book token. They are Harriet Fisher of J4 and Freya Walsh of MIR. ... Despite the miserable weather for mid-summers day the Firs Fun Day was a resounding success raising over £2000! The turn-out remained as high as ever, perhaps due to the fact that other events in the area had been cancelled. However the FSDF and the estate staff were made of tougher stuff and events were quickly rescheduled to take place in the classrooms. Tuesday 18th March was the day of our Easter Headgear Parade organised by the FSDF with most of the school entering the competition in aid of Sport Relief. The headgear was varied and imaginative. Obviously lots of thought and time had gone into creating these hats. After much deliberation the winners were announced by Mrs Denton.
