The Firs Chamber Choir has entered for this years Cheshire schools Christmas Choir competition organised by the NeuroMuscular centre with support from Dawsons music and Dee 106.3. The winners get to sing at the spirit of Christmas event at the Cathedral on the 3rd of December and win music equipment for their school. The finalists will be announced on Dee 106.3 on Monday. Keep your fingers crossed!
Despite the miserable weather for mid-summers day the Firs Fun Day was a resounding success raising over £2000! The turn-out remained as high as ever, perhaps due to the fact that other events in the area had been cancelled. However the FSDF and the estate staff were made of tougher stuff and events were quickly rescheduled to take place in the classrooms. Children at the Firs School collected food and treats at the harvest service last week in aid of Save the Family at Plas Bellin. The Firs School was the first school to collect for Save the Family and now a number of schools and organisations also donate at harvest time.


National Bookstart Day was held on Friday 5th October. The theme this year was jungles and the Early Years department held a party with games, stories and rhymes promoting the theme. National Bookstart Day is held each year to inspire and encourage young children to develop a love of stories and poetry at an early age.

The Firs headteacher Margaret Denton visited the studios of Dee 106.3 today to talk to presenter Mike James on our forthcoming Open Morning this Saturday. Mrs Denton is obviously a radio natural as she explained about all the pupil activities on show and what to expect this Saturday. Tim Longman accompanied her to take some photos and a video of her in the studio. Let's hope we don't lose her to an alternative career!

Firs School new parents got together on Tuesday evening at the school for cheese, wine and conversation. Margaret Denton welcomed them to the school community. A good time was had by all, now we look forward to the Open Morning on Saturday.
Another school year starts. The Firs staff started a day earlier than the children for an introductory training session on how to use the new interactive whiteboards and knowledge box learning platform that have been installed over the summer holidays.
