The Firs Chamber Choir has entered for this years Cheshire schools Christmas Choir competition organised by the NeuroMuscular centre with support from Dawsons music and Dee 106.3. The winners get to sing at the spirit of Christmas event at the Cathedral on the 3rd of December and win music equipment for their school. The finalists will be announced on Dee 106.3 on Monday. Keep your fingers crossed!
Well done to the members of our Chess club that competed at the annual Cheshire and North Wales open championship at the Kings School on October 8th. Rohan Y of Y6 won all 6 of his matches and was awarded the cup as the best primary school player in the region. The other members did well too. On Monday 19th September The Firs football team welcomed a mixed age team from Moreton Hall. The Firs squad rotated each quarter and there was some great team work. The Firs team were delighted to beat the visitors by 5 goals to1! Both teams enjoyed cakes and drinks after the match, kindly provided by our chef Neil Riley. Special congratulations to James of Year 3 who scored a goal on his debut appearance for The Firs.
Make a commentRohan Y has competed in his first badminton tournament on 1st October 2011 after playing for two weeks and won a runner up prize for doubles. He came 3rd in the singles with some very very close games. Rohan was very happy with his effort and was glad to come back with an unexpected trophy.

On Friday 16th September netball and football teams from The Firs joined other local and independent schools for tournaments which were held at the King's school,
Each team faced stiff opposition in the group stages, but played well and after playing seven matches each, both team emerged as winners of the plate trophy, upholding the honour not just of The Firs, but other independent schools at the tournament!

The Firs U11 Rounders team travelled to The Grange school in Northwich for the North ISA small schools tournament on the 29th June 2011. New rules were being enforced this year: the winning team would not be the one with the most wins, but the most points overall.

The Firs U11 Kwik Cricket team arrived at Wigan Cricket Club at 10am on Monday 27th July on a blisteringly hot day. They were straight into the first match against The Grange B, and in spite of some good bowling, The Grange made an impressive score of 56. The Firs A, and Firs B, Tag Rugby teams arrived at Abbey Gate Junior School in Aldford on Tuesday 7th June.
The Firs A were playing in Group 2, with Redcourt, Cransley and Christleton A. In the first game, in spite of scoring an early try, the Firs A were outclassed by Redcourt 6-1.
