Children from the Firs school competed in the Chester Speech and Drama Festival, held at The Kings School on Saturday 9th March 2013. The Chester festival is a speech and drama competition affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance and Speech. We were all treated to a lovely service at the end of the spring term. The school put on a production of "Jerusalem Joy" with all years taking part. Well done particularly to the soloists who all performed exceptionally well as you can see below. On Friday 22nd February, The Firs School played Abbey Gate College in a mixed year 3 & 4 match. Firs started off very nervously in their first match together, and this showed with some early defensive errors and this was well punished by Abbey Gate with them taking an early lead. Art club have been enthusiastic this term and have approached every new task with excitement and care. We started of our term's work focusing on the work of Vincent Van Gogh, an obviously well known artist, but a definite favourite. We practise line drawings looking at making different types of marks for texture and worked in oil pastels to create houses.
