The Firs hosted the ISA Northern U11 basketball this week. We were lucky enough to use the fabulous professional courts at Ellesmere Port Sports Village. Twelve teams were split into two halves and each played five basketball games. We were unbeaten with three draws and two wins and scored the most baskets. We went through to the semi-finals which turned out to be a very tense game, the win finally coming in the equivalent of a penalty shoot out. This led The Firs into the final against a very strong, and also unbeaten, Bridgewater School. We played brilliantly but eventually lost by one basket. A very exciting afternoon was topped off by a visit from two professional basketball players from the Cheshire Phoenix Club who play at the venue. Mr Dann coached the team and refereed as well and Mr Girvan organised the whole tournament – well done to both! And congratulations to our basketball team who represented us so well both on and off the pitch, some of the year 6 boys even did their homework whilst waiting for their next game! Dedication indeed!
