We set off for Abbey Gate College Junior School for our very first KS1 matches and both sets of boys were very excited for their debut matches for The Firs School.
The tournament was based on the current Euro 2012 tournament with all teams being given a current competing European team, Firs 1 represented Spain and Firs 2 representing Sweden.
Firs 1 (Spain) - Got off to a great start and were successful in their first match winning 3-1 with a great performance and 2 great goals from Woody.
Firs 2 (Sweden) - Just like Firs 1, Firs 2 also were triumphant in their first match with a 3-0 win.
Firs 1 (Spain) - In their second match Firs 1 were unlucky not to win after competing well but narrowly losing 3-2.
Firs 2 (Sweden) - Continued their high goal scoring tally and won their second match with a 6-1 victory, a great team performance and good individual goals from all 5 boys, and in particular Daniel PW.
With the above results both teams made it into the semi-finals.
Firs 1 (Spain) - Didn’t start well conceding a goal in the first few minutes, and this continued with 2 more goals being scored by the other team, However the boys worked hard and scored 2 goals in quick succession bringing the score to 3-2, which is how the game finished. A good fight back from the boys who were unlucky not to bring the score level in the end.
Firs 2 (Sweden) - Continued their fine form again and came through with a resounding 7-0 victory and with that a spot in the final.
Firs 2 (Sweden) FINAL - The boys were very positive going into the final and were looking forward to their first final. The team started off very well and were playing very well together, and with this quickly took the lead, and this was to be same for the rest off the final with the boys competing for every ball and scoring goal after goal, with the eventual score of 11-0 and all 5 boys adding goals to their individual tallies.
Both sets of boys did brilliant for their first time representing the school, and made us all very proud with a semi-final appearance and a final win. WELL DONE BOYS.
