We have had a busy sporting calendar recently and were delighted to recently host Prenton Prep for a football match at Wealstone Lane and at the same time a netball match in school.
Miss Roberts writes: “Netball: An unlucky defeat in the netball, with a final score of 8-6. All girls played really well and we were able to see where we need to work on in preparation for our next fixture, which will be against Abbey Gate College. We have a really strong team and our biggest strength is definitely our ability to work together, supporting one another throughout the game – I am really looking forward to our netball journey this year.” Holly S and Summer L produced a super report for assembly; Summer was voted player of the match by the opposition.
The football report was written by Paris L in 6KR: “On Monday the 2nd of October, The Firs School hosted our first match at the Wealstone Lane playing fields. After setting up the pitch and the goals, we did a big warm up including a shooting drill and I practiced my long kicks. Prenton arrived and after going through a few rules, the match started! The Firs got off to a quick start, passing very well and getting into great spaces. That hard work paid off as we scored a few goals early on! A strong defence meant that Prenton weren’t able to threaten our goal too much as The Firs piled on the pressure. In the second half, we were able to try a few new things ready for the tournaments next week. Mr. Girvan said that he wanted everyone to show good decision making and great passes, which we were all happy with at the end of the game.We ended up winning 9-0, which was a great result for our first game at The Firs this season. Robert A was man of the match.”
