The Firs is a Co-educational primary school for children between three and eleven with a well-balanced curriculum, experienced and qualified staff, an excellent academic record and caring atmosphere. Reception Taster Days 2011/12

If you're thinking of entering your child for Reception in 2012 then register for our Reception Taster days this year. Your child will get to do lots of interesting activities, make some art and listen to a story and even have a snack. As for parents, coffee and biscuits will be provided in the library along with a free wifi link if you need to carry on with business (or pleasure). A tour of the school will also be offered for those who haven't seen it.
After last years successful Reception taster days this is now the normal route for entry to Reception. If your child is in The Firs Kindergarten we will be arranging many sessions for them in Reception to get used to what happens in "Big School", but if you'd like to be around when they have a session please let the teachers know.
We have set aside 4 initial days for Wed 12th Oct, Tue 15th Nov, Thu 26th Jan and Tue 1st May. If there is more demand we will run some more. If you'd like to register for a session please fill in the form below or contact the school office.

Happy Christmas!

We wish all pupils, parents and staff a happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in the New Year. A particular thanks goes to the Cooks who left us last year to move to London. They sent us an early Christmas present in the form of a lovely bench which we have put under the climbing rose arch.

The teachers got into the Christmas mood on the last day of term!

We enjoyed all the Christmas cards that the children made and which were kindly printed by the FPG. This one was by George D.

Christmas Celebration at All Saints

What a wonderful Christmas celebration at All Saints on 8 December. It was in fact two separate plays.  The Infants did "The Little Angel" whilst the Juniors did "Hosanna Rock". The costumes were excellent and the singing and dancing were to the highest standard. Many thanks to Mrs Arran and all the children and teachers who worked so hard to make such an enjoyable evening. 5 stars for our catering team!

We've been getting a lot of good feedback from the children as to how much they love their lunches. Mr Riley our chef has come up with new menus for Autumn term. They can be viewed here. We have also had a visit from the Cheshire West environmental health officer who gave the team a maximum 5 star rating for their food safety. That is better than many restaurants in Chester! Well done to our catering team!

Thanks for a great Open Morning

Thanks to all children, parents and staff who took part in the Open Morning. We were blessed with lovely weather and the school looked lovely with the children's displays. As always visitors remarked about what good ambassadors the older children are who showed them around the school. Firs School Reception Taster Mornings

As last year instead of a single assessment in January we have a number of taster mornings. Children who will be ready for reception in September 2012 come into the school for a morning to do some activities and meet the teachers. Assuming all goes well we will offer your child a place. If you would like to book a place please contact the school office or fill in the on-line form.
